Matt Ryan returns to Atlanta as Falcons' new president of football
The former No. 3 overall pick is now back as a member of the front office to help the team end an eight-year playoff drought, one that began when Ryan was still Atlanta's starting quarterback. Team owner Arthur Blank discussed the role that this new "president of football" role would play last week.
ATLANTA — Tens of thousands of college football fans are coming to Atlanta as two of the top teams in the country prepare to face off in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Friday. The No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers and No. 5 Oregon Ducks are battling for a spot in the College Football Playoff Championship.
Haloti Ngata, LaMichael James and Joey Harrington are just a few names of Ducks recognized at the College Football Hall of Fame exhibits in Atlanta.
The Falcons are creating a "president of football" position who the new general manager and head coach will report to. Longtime Falcons executive Rich McKay will remain with Blank's larger group of family business, but he will no longer be the CEO of the Falcons after more than two decades near the top of the food chain with the team.
