After almost 14 years in production, the Tesla Model S will be discontinued next quarter. This was Tesla’s first EV designed from the ground up, and it showed that fully electric cars could be fast and comfortable.
In a move Elon Musk calls "slightly sad," Tesla is officially killing off the Model S and Model X by June 2026. The company is gutting its Fremont factory to build millions of "Optimus" robots instead.
Tesla also announced plans to end production of its Model S and Model X vehicles. It will now use the manufacturing plant in California that made those cars to produce its line of humanoid robots - known as Optimus.
