Representatives of the Department of Public Safety and Minnesota National Guard are set to talk at a press conference ahead of possible protests this weekend. The briefing is set to start at 3:30 p.m., coming ahead of a weekend in which a far-right influencer is planning to hold a "March Against Minnesota Fraud" at Minneapolis City Hall.

JD Vance visited Minneapolis as scrutiny mounts over the handling of immigration enforcement there, including the detention of a 5-year-old boy.

The surge of immigration enforcement in Minnesota continues on Thursday, with updates from ICE officials, Vice President JD Vance expected and the Minnesota Department of Corrections expected.

The event, called “A Day of Truth and Freedom,” is being organized by union representatives, faith leaders and community members.

Protests are scheduled to take place in downtown Minneapolis.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey are also expected to receive subpoenas amid the federal immigration crackdown in the state, and specifically in Minneapolis, CNN reported.

The Minnesota Guard has been mobilized and is on standby to support law enforcement ahead of protests expected to unfold in Minneapolis over the weeke
