Americans seeking to lose weight now have a new option – taking Wegovy as a daily pill, rather than a weekly injection.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the Wegovy pill in late December 2025 for adults who are obese or overweight and have related health problems. The pill is designed to be used along with a lower-calorie diet and more physical activity to help people lose weight and keep it off.
The approval gives Novo Nordisk a head start over chief rival Eli Lilly, which is racing to launch its own obesity pill.
