Airline travelers who arrive at airport security checkpoints without a REAL ID license or another accepted form of identification will soon have a new option — but it comes with a new cost. Starting Feb.
A critical Real ID deadline is approaching, and that will mean some travelers without a Real ID will have to pay extra to travel.
The Transportation Security Administration will launch a new identity-verification service called TSA ConfirmID on Feb. 1.
Starting Feb. 1, passengers without an acceptable form of ID can verify their ID using TSA ConfirmID. It'll cost $45.
Expanded hours will be available at the walk-in REAL ID Supercenter, 191 N. Clark St., as well as at the clerk’s Vital Records Department, 118 N. Clark St., for residents who need to round up the additional documents needed for REAL IDs.
