It’s the first full week of 2026, and we’re kicking things off with some light snow as a small clipper system pushes through New England Monday afternoon into the overnight hours. Many of you will see some snow showers as you head home for the evening.

Millions of Americans live in areas under winter storm alerts stretching from northern Minnesota to the Eastern Seaboard.

National Weather Service describes forecast as "tricky" with most areas expecting 1-2 inches of snow before transition to ice that could damage trees and power lines.

Snowfall projections have been bumped up for the post-Christmas storm, with a new National Weather Service map showing widespread 5 to 7 inches now likely across much of the tristate area, and even higher totals in some spots.

The UK is bracing for harsh winter weather with snow hitting as far south as London and Birmingham, whilst Scotland faces up to 65cm of snow and temperatures plummeting to -11C
