An LIRR train derailed outside of the Jamaica station on Thursday. First responders arrived at around 11 a.m. where they helped passengers off the derailed train and onto a rescue train. Eight cars carrying 100 passengers were affected. Over a dozen people were reported injured. As of 8 a.m. Friday, the MTA said it has rerailed six out of the eight cars. Speed is not expected to be a factor in the derailment, as the MTA said the train was traveling in an area with speed limits between 60 to 80 m
