It's goose banding season. Yesterday, Fish and Game wildlife biologists and a few additional helpers banded over 100 geese at three sites. Geese are corralled during this, their feather molting period, a band with a unique ID is affixed to their leg, then they're sexed and released. Nearly 3 million geese have been banded across the country since 1914. A hunter who harvests a duck or goose with a band reports it to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
