Acrocanthosaurus lived and hunted in what is now the American Southwest 100 million years ago in the middle Cretaceous Period. It is among the most enormous meat-eating dinosaurs ever discovered. Acrocanthosaurus was at least 38 feet long and weighed an immense 12,000 pounds. When you visit AZMNH, one of the first things you are greeted by is a life-size sculpture of Acrocanthosaurus bursting from the side of the building.
