Most tradesmen never realise where their profit is disappearing because they only price a job once. You should price every job twice: once before you start, and again when it’s finished. At the start, you’re estimating. At the end, you’re learning. Let’s say you priced a job at 2,700 Quid. When it’s done, sit down and go line by line: You allowed 1,000 Quid for materials but they came to 1,200 Quid. You thought it’d take two days but it took four. Maybe your labour rate was fine but your quantit
