Watch out for wildlife on roads around the park! Elk (Cervus canadensis) are big animals. They can weigh up to (and sometimes more than) 1,000 pounds and stand almost 5 feet tall at their shoulder. You would think such a big animal would have no problem with the snow, but deep snow like that found at Paradise during the winter (which can be 10-15 feet deep!) is simply too much for these animals.
