The infectious prions that cause chronic wasting disease in deer accumulate in certain parts of the deer, especially the brain, eyes, spleen and spinal cord. To avoid transporting CWD to a new area, leave a CWD zone only with boneless venison, antlers, a clean skull plate, and a clean hide. All states now ban the importation of whole deer carcasses, so this is a good rule for crossing state lines as well.
