The Hay Wain was painted in 1821 and became one of John Constable's most iconic paintings, which depicts a rural scene on the River Stour. Today, we care for the landscape at Flatford that inspired this now famous view. Constable and The Hay Wain is also at the heart of a new exhibition at the National Gallery.
