These are sulfur bacteria Beggiatoa magnified 1000x, and I think they are my favorite bacteria! These filaments are able to move really fast, it's a real-time video! . The black dots you see inside the filaments are sulfur inclusions, which Beggiatoa stored by oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to sulfur! . These filaments move on the sediment layer and form white patches that you can see with the naked eye! That's actually how I collect these! Isn't it wonderful! . Thanks for reading, I appreciate you

Normally I don’t have a story behind the names, however, this time with the Phacus smulkowskianus I know how it got its name! . This organism is named by my favorite professor in 1986. Prof. Zakrys works on euglenids, like Phacus, for over 40 years, and Professor named the organism after her husband’s uncle who spoke 9 languages and was helping Professor to translate the original descriptions of euglenids specie
