Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) 🪱 This parasite is found throughout Australia, with prevelence in SE Qld increasing and it is commonly trasferred from mosquitos. Domestic dogs are a favoured host for adult and microfliaria life cycle stages of the heartworm. As a result our canine companions are more at risk of infection than our feline friends.
